Seascape Designs Details

The lotteries unit project was an abandoned old office building located in the old west end of Geraldton CBD. The brief was to renovate the existing old building (Built in 1956) in to 9 modern inner city living apartments with retail shops on ground floor.

Seascape Designs had renovated the 150 year old building next door 2 years prior for the same owner, so we knew what needed to be done for the tight budget.

The building required extensive demolition throughout the construction turning an existing office building into 9, 1 and 2 bedroom apartments.

As this was an existing building, the only way we could build this project sustainably was to recycle as many old materials as possible and to buy as many sustainable new products as possible.

All old timber window frames where recycled to the local demo yard and private collectors. All old aluminum commercial window frames where recycled and sold with a lot of recyclable steel, copper, gal, brass metal etc. All the old doors went to the local demo yard plus private collectors. Bricks were re used, timber beams were re used as features or re purposed in new construction.

We managed to create nine totally different units, most in a modern design with some showing parts of the existing building with feature existing old brick walls and old steel trusses & timber beams. We even managed to create one disabled unit which is a rare thing in today’s unit market.

The owners were able to secure some local Government funding to improve the public alley way between the two old buildings we renovated for the same owner. The finished alley way created a tranquil and inviting public space bringing together two old unused buildings now revived and repurposed to live long into the 21st century.
